The Urban Assembly is a non-profit organization that creates and manages small secondary public schools. Currently, UA consists of 16 schools with an additional three planned for September 2007, serving 10,000 students in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Manhattan. The student body consists overwhelmingly of low-income students of color who enter the UA schools performing below grade level.
